Office of Food Security Request for Proposals for Mercer Healthy Food Purchasing Grant 2026

The Mercer County Department of Human Services, Office of Food Security, is accepting proposals from nonprofit agencies for the contract period of June 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. Funding will support eligible nonprofit food distribution organizations with the purchase of fresh and nutritious foods for direct distribution to county residents experiencing food insecurity. Through this grant program, up to $150,000 in total funding will be awarded to eligible agencies.

Funding Tiers:

• Tier One: Large-Scale Food Distribution Organizations – funding up to $30,000
  
  Designed for high-capacity organizations that run large-scale food distribution, such as larger food pantries or multi-site distribution programs, that serve 500 + households monthly.
  • Tier Two: Mid-Scale Food Distribution Organizations – funding up to $15,000
  
  Designed for smaller food pantries, community-based organizations, emergent nonprofits, etc. that serve fewer than 500 households monthly.
