Sports Officiating Services

The City of Surprise (“City”) is seeking proposals for sports officials for the City of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department's recreational sports leagues. The Parks and Recreation Department is the primary provider of recreational services for the City. The City’s recreational sports include Youth and Adult Baseball, Youth and Adult Basketball, Youth and Adult Flag Football, Youth and Adult Volleyball, Youth and Adult Sand Volleyball, Youth Girls and Adult Softball, and Youth Soccer. The leagues vary per season and may be offered multiple times during the year.

It’s the intent of the City to establish multiple contracts to provide officiating services for all age groups. For youth leagues ages 13 and up, the City would prefer having more experienced level officials scheduled. The Contractors shall provide up to two umpires/referees for all specified league and tournament games and must be available to provide simultaneous coverage for up to sixteen (16) games per league.

The Department is excited to provide these opportunities which enhance the spirit of sportsmanship and community connection, while improving cardiovascular health, muscular strength and endurance. The participation levels for recreational sports in Surprise continues to grow. To sustain this continual growth, the City is seeking mid to large size sports officiating contractors to supply referees and umpires year-round.
