Notes
Carson City invites qualified firms to submit proposals for the Curry Street Complete Streets Improvement Project (“Project”): Survey, Environmental Review, Engineering Design, and Construction Support Services. This is a Federally Funded Project supplemented with various local funds. Curry Street is classified as a minor collector and, as a parallel route to S. Carson Street, serves to enhance circulation in the southwest area of Carson City by providing additional connectivity between the northwest residential neighborhoods and downtown core to the commercial corridor to the south. Within the majority of the project limits, Curry Street is a narrow, curvy, two-lane roadway with little to no shoulders, no multimodal facilities, limited sight distance in some locations, disconnected storm drain system, and roadside safety hazards in the form of steep, non-traversable slopes and utility poles within a few feet of the traveled way. It is cut into a hillside with steep embankment slopes along the Nevada State Railroad Museum and Forest Service properties to the east and along the Nevada State Lands properties to the west. Sidewalk is present along both sides of Curry Street at the south end of the project and north of the Forest Service properties at the north end. Bike lanes exist south of the project limits and terminate at the south leg of the Curry St/Rhodes St. intersection. The Project will connect the gap in multimodal and storm drain facilities and improve safety by widening Curry Street to provide continuous bicycle, pedestrian, and storm drain facilities in addition to lighting and roadside safety improvements along Curry Street from Rhodes St. to the existing sidewalk north of the Forest Service parcels 003-063-09 and 003-064-16.
