Summary
The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans. OhioMHAS strives to be a national leader in implementing a comprehensive, accessible, and quality-focused system of addiction and mental health care and wellness for all Ohio citizens.
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services ( Ohio MHAS) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide the PAX trainings and activities to be conducted in Ohio: 1. Promotional and Marketing Services for community/state outreach, conference participation. 2. Technical Assistance for: promotion, training readiness, implementation, capacity-building, internal outcomes. 3. Stakeholder collaboration including meeting attendance and partnership development. 4. Trainer induction/professional development including Implementing a multi-step process in Ohio to recruit, train, mentor, and develop a pipeline of Ohio-based PAX trainers for in-person and virtual training events. 5. Provide training programs in Ohio that include: PAX Tools Community Educator Training, PAX Tools for Human Services Training, PAX Tools for Caregiver Workshop. These will include materials and modules, as appropriate. 6. Evaluation services that will collect participant information during registration, post-training survey to assess knowledge gained, and a mid-implementation survey eight weeks after training to assess outcomes.
PAX Tools® is a collection of trauma-informed evidence-based behavioral strategies for families and communities to promote the development of self-regulation in children. Adults who participate in PAX Tools Community Workshops receive the strategies and materials they need to effectively use PAX Tools with children. PAX Tools Community Workshops are presented locally by PAX Tools Community Educators. PAX Tools Community Educator training is available in live virtual and in-person formats. This training is eight content hours where participants observe a PAX Tools Community Workshop, participate in teaching sections of the content, and learn how to implement and sustain PAX Tools in their own community. PAX Tools for Human Services is a collection of trauma-informed evidence-based behavioral strategies for adults who work with young people in their professional practice. These strategies promote the development of self-regulation in young people, reduce conflict between young people and adults, and improve relationships. Professionals who attend training will receive all the strategies and materials they need to use PAX Tools with the young people they work with. This training consists of six content hours where participants learn how to implement eleven evidence-based strategies in their professional practice during normal interactions with young people. Participants will receive all the materials needed to implement PAX Tools with the children they serve. PAX Tools for Caregivers is a workshop providing trauma-informed evidence-based behavioral strategies for all caregivers who support children in their care. These strategies promote the development of self-regulation, reduce conflict, and improve relationships. Those who attend this workshop will also receive the materials they need to effectively use PAX Tools with the young people in their care. This workshop consists of two-and-half content hours where participants learn how to implement eight evidence-based strategies in their everyday interactions with young people. Participants in this workshop will leave with all the skills and materials they need to start implementing PAX Tools strategies.)

PAX Tools Community Educator Training PAX Tools Community Educator Training provides professionals with the skills and license to facilitate PAX Tools Community Workshops for adults and caregivers in their own community. Community Educators include Parent Educators, Health Educators, Prevention Educators, Extension Educators, Social Service Providers, Volunteer Coordinators, Foster Care and Respite Providers, Faith-Based Youth Workers/Volunteers, Behavioral Health Providers, and others. This training includes the PAX Tools Community Educator Manual and training materials, PAX Tools Chests for a PAX Tools Community Educator to disseminate to adult and caregiver participants during their PAX Tools Community Workshops, and the PAX Up! App for implementing with young people. B. PAX Tools for Human Services PAX Tools for Human Services Training provides research-based behavioral strategies for professionals who work with youth across the youth system of care. These providers include case managers, counselors, social workers, family and peer support partners, probation officers, Child, and Family Team (CFT) facilitators, juvenile justice professionals, and others. This training provides professionals and organizations with a unified, trauma-informed approach that can be accessed and utilized by all staff and provides professionals with guidance for integrating PAX Tools strategies into their professional role. It also provides guidance in disseminating strategies that were particularly successful in professional practice to caregivers for use in the home or other settings. To meet the dynamic needs of Arizona Human Service professionals, PAXIS Institute created a self-paced version of the PAX Tools for Human Services Training to ensure Human Service professionals could participate in training at their own pace outside of work hours. This training includes the PAX Tools for Human Services Guidebook, supplemental materials, caregiver support materials, and the PAX Up! App for implementing with young people. C. PAX Tools for Caregivers Workshop Pax Tools for Caregivers Workshop provides trauma-informed, evidence-based strategies for parents, caregivers, and youth-serving adults. This two-hour workshop ensures all adults who encounter children in care have access to proven strategies that improve short-term and long-term outcomes for children and the adults who care for them. This training includes a resource kit for each participant as well as the PAX Up! App for implementing with young people. D. 4. Professional Development Consultation Evaluation Services Collect mid-implementation survey (eight weeks after training completion). This evaluation captures data from the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and Social Competence Scale. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF CONTRACTOR Contractor must be qualified as an agency and provide qualified personnel to perform all specified trainings along with all other services rendered as mentioned within the scope of work. Contractor must be certified in the provision of PAX Tools trainings and have experience providing this training to individuals in the community. Contractor shall not be subject to an “unresolved” finding for recovery under Section 9.24 of Ohio Revised Code. |
