The work to be performed under this contract is for the improvements to the Airport Connector (SR-171) northbound from approximately I-215 to Sunset Road and the I-215 westbound off-ramp to SR-171. The improvements include: Widening the Sunset Road off-ramp from one lane to two lanes to provide additional storage capacity on the ramp for the traffic signal at the Sunset Road and Paradise Road intersection. Widening the northbound Airport Connector from three lanes to four lanes between the WN on-ramp and the Sunset Road exit. Realigning the WN on-ramp to go under the new ramp (ES) bridge. This WN on-ramp lane will join with the two lanes from the northbound Airport Connector and the dedicated lane for Sunset Road exit to form the four-lane northbound Airport Connector section. Constructing a new ramp (ES) that connects the northbound Airport Connector to a dedicated lane for the Sunset Road off-ramp. The ES ramp includes a new grade separation structure over the WN ramp. Realign George Crockett Road (GC) to northbound Airport Connector on-ramp to increase the weave distance between the GC on-ramp and the new ES ramp gore. The improvements generally consist of the bridge structure, retaining walls, pavement rehabilitation, cold planning and overlay, plantmix bituminous paving, curb and gutter, median, sidewalk, traffic signal, pavement markings, signing, street lighting, bridge lighting, bridge underdeck lighting, ITS, utility adjustments, landscape, impact attenuator, fencing, construction traffic control and other related items of work. The work includes demolition, removals and disposal of designated improvements including bituminous pavement, signage, fencing and other related items of work.
