Overview

Summary

The Wastewater Biosolids Hauling, Disposal, and Dewatering services are intended to secure reliable, compliant, and cost-effective services for the transport and final disposition of biosolids generated from wastewater treatment operations. The project focuses on ensuring that biosolids are handled safely and efficiently from the point of generation through hauling, treatment, reuse, or disposal, in full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The selected vendor will play a critical role in supporting continuous plant operations, environmental stewardship, and public health protection. This effort seeks experienced, quality-driven service providers that can offer dependable logistics, regulatory expertise, and flexible disposal options while maintaining high safety and environmental standards. Vendors with innovative approaches, proven performance, and a commitment to sustainability are strongly encouraged to participate.

Background

Wastewater treatment processes generate residual solids, commonly referred to as biosolids, as a byproduct of treating domestic and industrial wastewater. These biosolids must be managed, transported, and disposed of or beneficially reused in a manner that complies with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
The Utility Systems Department operates two wastewater treatment facilities that continuously produce biosolids through secondary treatment processes. Due to limited on-site storage capacity and regulatory requirements governing handling and disposal, routine and reliable off-site hauling and disposal services are essential to maintaining uninterrupted plant operations and regulatory compliance.
