APEX Accelerators are an official government contracting resource for small businesses. Find your local APEX Accelerator (opens in new window) for free government expertise related to contract opportunities.
APEX Accelerators are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
The Office of Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), within the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) seeks to establish a partnership to build the next iteration of the Diagnostics/Medical Devices Hub as part of the BARDA Accelerator Network (BAN 2.0) using BARDA’s Other Transaction Authority (OTA). With BAN 2.0, BARDA aims to further enhance the global health security innovation ecosystem, optimize startup acceleration and wrap-around services, and ultimately develop an Accelerator Network as a scalable infrastructure for commercialization including active product development support, and validation capabilities during regular operations as well as rapid response during public health emergencies.
Similar to the current BAN Hubs, the Diagnostics/Medical Devices Hub will support BARDA’s mission by addressing the following objectives/tasks, with a focus on innovators and companies that fit within the diagnostics/medical devices space:
BARDA intends to enter into an Other Transaction Agreement with an organization to provide resources and support for the Diagnostics/Medical Devices focus area:
The Accelerator Hub can operate independently or as a consortium of partners, though one legal entity must be identified as the prime awardee to enter into an agreement with BARDA. It is anticipated that the Accelerator Hub will provide funding and/or services to mission-relevant innovators nationally, regardless of the Hub’s physical location.
