The Town has identified the need to formulate and implement the use of a strategic Transportation Action Plan that will enable local partners to secure funding that improves the safety of transportation systems and save lives. Federal Highway Administration funding from the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program will support more thorough crash analyses, active transportation remediation, identify high injury networks and safety hot spots. The Town has partnered with the New River Valley Regional Commission to complete the Transportation Action plan development. The selected A/E firm will collaborate with Town and New River Valley Regional Commission (NRVRC) staff to develop systemic improvement actions and location prioritization. Data analyses and conceptual design solutions will be utilized to support a robust public engagement strategy that will include surveys, town halls, working groups, and stakeholder collaboration.
