Purpose of Procurement
Pursuant to the State Purchasing Act (Official Code of Georgia Annotated 50-5-50 et seq.), this electronic Request for Proposals (eRFP) is being issued to establish a contract with a qualified supplier who will provide Transportation Services to Kennesaw State University as further described in this eRFP.
This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Kennesaw State University seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide transportation services for the growing University, including the provision of drivers and buses. Our transit system serves as a vital connector for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while navigating on, to, and between our campuses supporting the University's commitment to safety, service, accessibility, sustainability, and efficiency in campus mobility solutions.
The selected vendor will establish and maintain a comprehensive and turn-key transit operation, including buses, bus operators, transit management, DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance, and a maintenance program for the fleet. Safety measures should be paramount, ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and drivers are adequately trained, licensed, and DOT certified. All vehicles must be compliant with the current legally adopted ADA code. Efficiency will be measured through route optimization to minimize wait times for system users. This entails precise coordination between routes and the allocation of trained drivers to ensure timely and reliable service. Each route must be optimized for efficiency, considering factors such as traffic patterns, passenger demand, geography, and sustainability. Additionally, flexibility is crucial to accommodate unforeseen circumstances or last-minute changes, while maintaining a commitment to punctuality and customer satisfaction. Sustainability efforts should focus on reducing emissions and promoting eco-friendly practices, such as using hybrid vehicles, and/or propane or compressed natural gas (CNG), as a portion of the fleet.
