Bid Description:
State of Vermont, acting through the Agency of Transportation – Policy, Planning & Intermodal Division – Rail and Aviation Bureau (referred to as State) is seeking proposals for maintenance and inspection services for state-owned aviation automated weather observing stations (AWOS) located at:

1.        Franklin County State Airport 629 Airport Road

2.        Caledonia County State Airport 2107 Pudding Hill Road Lyndonville, VT 05851-8985

3.        Northeast Kingdom International Airport 2628 Airport Road
Newport (Coventry), VT 05855
4.        Middlebury State Airport 467 Airport Road

An AWOS provides continuous and current real-time weather conditions by gathering and disseminating information from strategically located sensors, twenty-four hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year connection. This weather information is made available to the aviation community, government agencies, private sector weather outlets, and the public via direct-dial telephone, aviation radio frequency broadcast, and the National Airspace Data Interchange Network (NADIN). This AWOS information is invaluable for flight planning, aviation safety, weather forecasting, and other weather dependent activities and services. Each state- owned AWOS unit must comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards and maintenance requirements outlined in the most current FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5220-16E, Automated Weather Observing Systems for Non-Federal Applications - https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_150_5220-16E.pdf.
