Request for Qualifications-Material Testing, Special Inspection and Source Material Inspections

The City of Malibu, Public Works Department (City) is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced firms to provide On-Call Materials, Geological, Geotechnical, and Environmental Testing and Inspection Services, along with Special Inspection and Source Material Inspection Services for various improvement projects in the City. The City intends to award a contract to one or more consultants to provide the requested services for a three-year term with two (2) one (1) year optional extensions to be exercised at the sole discretion of the City. The Department seeks to retain qualified firms for the purpose of providing these services for the City’s Capital Improvement Program and various other improvement projects, on an as-needed, on-call basis.

Qualified and responsible respondent firms interested in submitting a proposal should successfully demonstrate:

A. Ability to provide general geological, geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing and inspection services, along with special inspection and source inspection services on an on-call basis.

B. Significant time and experience in working with local public works agencies in general geological, geotechnical, environmental, and material testing and inspection services, along with special inspection and source inspection services for capital improvement projects.

C. Experience performing sampling, testing, and inspecting manufactures materials and products at the source of supply (source material inspection) based on Caltrans Standard Specifications, latest edition, and Caltrans’ Construction Manual.  Familiarity with Caltrans’ material testing and source inspection procedures.

D. Experience performing laboratory tests and field inspections based on Caltrans Standard Specifications, latest edition; and the “Greenbook” latest edition.
