The Minnesota Department of Education intends to hold a Native Arts Summer Institute with Tribal Nations Education Committee (TNEC) as Prairie Island Treasure Island Resort & Casino.
This has been deemed a single source, as the TNEC determined to center a Dakota community in arts teachers' professional learning because fewer resources exist currently to support learning about Dakota arts and artists. The contractor who is the cofacilitator for this institute and a well-known Native scholar shows having Dakota support is important for making connections in the community, exploring options for space to hold the institute, and in general for building and sustaining relationship between the tribe and MDE.
