Title: Sole Source Notice: Purchase of Vega Radars from Vega Americas, Inc
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 3/7/2025
Due Date: 3/14/2025
This is not a Request for Proposals and there is no solicitation available. The proposed contract action is for product or services for which the City intends to negotiate and award with only one source under the authority of the City of North Miami Beach City Code Section 3-4.8. Any responses received as a result of this Notice of Intent shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses will not be considered as proposals, bids, or quotes.
The City of North Miami Beach’s Water Department requires the purchase of Vega radars which is currently utilized by the Lift stations. These radars provide non-contact level measurement of materials inside the Lift Station well, feeding level measurement data to the Programmable Logic Controller, which serves as the primary means of controlling the pumps to prevent overflow of material. A multitude of the existing sensors have since operated past their expected life cycle and are in a state beyond repair. Uniform equipment ensures seamless integration with the existing SCADA system, reducing the risk of compatibility issues and simplifying troubleshooting. This standardization also streamlines inventory management, allowing for consolidated spare parts and replacement units, which reduces procurement complexities and lowers overall costs. Vega’s proven reliability and performance in water treatment applications further align with our facility’s goals of precision, efficiency, and minimal downtime, making them uniquely suited to meet our long-term operational needs
