The Town of Needham, Massachusetts, acting through its Town Manager and Permanent Public Building Committee, invites sealed bids from Electrical General Contractors for the Theater Systems Upgrade – Newman Elementary School Project located at 1155 Central Ave, Needham, MA in accordance with the Contract Documents prepared by Hewshott International, LLC.

A non-mandatory pre-bid walk through will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Newman Elementary School located at 1155 Central Avenue, Needham, MA. The project is an upgrade to all the 1) theater sound system, from analog to digital all 2) theatrical lighting systems from incandescent to LED, 3) replace architectural wall sconces and stage/catwalk work lights with LED, 4) replace theatrical curtains with inherently flame retardant (IFR) curtains, and 5) video system upgrades and enhancements within the existing Newman Elementary School Theater. All work associated with the renovation is to be substantially completed and the system fully operational by September 15, 2026.
The Estimated Construction Cost: $1,425,000. DCAMM Certification is required. The GC shall include sub-sub-contractors for 1) Stage Curtains and Rigging, 2) Theatrical Lighting and Controls, 3) Integrated Audio-Video Systems and Equipment in their bid or confirm how they will self perform these specialties. Electrical General Contractor bids are due on 5/22/2025 at the Public Service Administration Window, 500 Dedham Ave., Needham, MA 02492 until the deadlines at 2:00PM at which time they will be publicly opened and read in the adjacent Charles River Room. Late bids and Email bids will not be accepted. Wages are subject to prevailing wage rates as per M.G.L. Chapter 149, Section 26-27H as amended.
