The Student Stores Building at UNC Chapel Hill was constructed in 1968. This project will include a comprehensive replacement of the existing bitumen roof over the building, TPO roof above the mechanical penthouse, and the TPO roof above the loading dock. The entire roof footprint is approx. 19,900 SF total. This project will remove all existing roof systems down to the existing structural deck, repair and/or replace any damaged roof decking and install the new roof systems with flashing and accessories to provide a complete, watertight roof assembly.
The building is supported by concrete footings and contains a basement. The structure is concrete framed supporting concrete floor and concrete roof decks. Exterior components include architectural concrete wall panels, and stone. The roofs are low-slope modified bitumen roof system with a granular-surfaced cap sheet and single-ply TPO membrane. The building is fully sprinklered.
This project has been approved by the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees. A total project cost of $740,000 is targeted.
The project delivery method will be Single Prime bid & contract.
