Overview

Summary

Effingham County Board of Commissioners is requesting sealed bids for the Blue Jay Road Sewer Extension: Low Ground Road (Hodgeville Road to Midland Road) project. This project includes installing new gravity sewer, force main, and two submersible lift stations along Low Ground Road. Work will involve constructing wetwells, valve vaults, and installing pumps, piping, valves, and fittings, as well as completing all related electrical and SCADA controls, standby power systems, fencing, site lighting, grading, and final site restoration. All construction must follow the plans and technical specifications prepared by Hussey Gay Bell and the County’s standard requirements. Once complete, this project will improve and expand wastewater service for the Blue Jay Road corridor and nearby areas.

Background

Effingham County is growing rapidly, especially in the Blue Jay Road and Low Ground Road area. To keep up with this growth and reduce the community’s reliance on septic systems, the County is extending public sewer service along this corridor. The Blue Jay Road Sewer Extension project will add new gravity sewer lines, a force main, and two submersible lift stations from Hodgeville Road to Midland Road. These improvements will help serve existing and future development, increase system reliability, and support the County’s ongoing efforts to expand essential utility infrastructure in a safe and sustainable way.
