Inadequate Generator Pinion Flow from Spray Nozzle Repair
1. Background, Problem Statement:

1.2 Background:
CGC CYPRESS was asked as were all 16 of the WLB class, to do a urgent inspection of the LO System Flow from visible spray nozzles. After recent MRG failures the USCG is trying to identify any LO flow problems that can exacerbate the MRG aging issue prior to each Cutter’s scheduled future “Major Overhauls”. Cypress reported after their inspection:
A. Poor flow from Generator pinion 3 spray nozzles. It appears only a steady stream is coming from a single spray nozzle.
B. A Bull Gear tooth has visible damage. It appears (USCG desire) that it can be mitigated by hand dressing/stoning.
