The purpose of this amendment is to provide additional information in response to questions which have been submitted.
Q: What will this be used for?
A: The salt is used for the water softener system which services the entire Battle Creek VA Medical Center.
Q: Does it specifically need to be white water ? Could you provide the salt specifications?
A: The bill of lading for the salt we currently receive says Granulated Industrial YPS Bulk NSF 60 . It looks like table salt.
Q: Do you want salt with or without YPS (anti-caking agent)?
A: The salt must have YPS.
Q: The common couple size for pneumatic deliveries here is 4 inches, while 4.5 inches sounds like an outside diameter measurement.
A: We have a 4-inch cam lock connection to the silo.
Q: What type of truck would you need to have deliveries in? Assume a pneumatic trailer but want to verify.
A: When salt is delivered the semi-truck looks like a tanker vessel and can offload the salt with air pressure from the truck through 4-inch hoses to our salt silo. Some have different compartments with looks of hoppers on the bottom of the tanker trailer.
Q: Would it be possible to schedule a site visit?
A: Yes, all requests for a site visit should be sent to the Contracting Officer, Jeffrey Rozema, via email at jeffrey.rozema@va.gov no later than 5:00 PM ET, Monday, October 14, 2024.
