Scope of Work
The work consists of the following:
The Work includes the furnishing of the labor, materials, equipment and services for construction of the new process area MB-17 Sodium Hypochlorite Storage and improvements made in the following existing buildings and site work improvements (yard piping, yard electrical, paving and grading, erosion control, and general restoration): MB-2 Solids Processing Building, MB-3 Gravity Thickener Building and Fermenter, MB-7 Administration Building, MB-8 Settled Sewage Pump Station, MB-10 Sodium Hypochlorite Building, MB-11 UV Disinfection Building, and MB-13 BNR Train No. 4 Primary Sludge Pump Station and Odor Control Building.
The improvements in each building and process area are generally described below:
• The Work in MB-2 Solids Processing Building includes the replacement of grit classifiers and conveyors, demolition of an existing belt filter press, and structural beam and elevated slab repairs.
• The Work in MB-3 Gravity Thickener Building and Fermenter includes the replacement of a motor control center and various process valves.
• The Work in MB-7 Administration Building includes the installation of a new natural gas powered standby generator and automatic transfer switch.
• The Work in MB-8 Settled Sewage Pump Station includes primary sludge pump modifications and the replacement of the primary scum pumps, settled sewage pumps, and sidestream control valves.
• The Work in MB-10 Sodium Hypochlorite Building includes the demolition of existing sodium hypochlorite storage tanks, piping, and pumps.
• The Work in MB-11 UV Disinfection Building includes the relocation of an existing flow meter on the plant effluent water pumping system.
• The Work in MB-13 BNR Train No. 4 Primary Sludge Pump Station and Odor Control Building includes the replacement of primary sludge pumps, odor control fans, building make-up air unit, and the electrical room air conditioning unit.
• The Work associated with new process area MB-17 Sodium Hypochlorite Storage includes the construction of new sodium hypochlorite storage tanks and fill stations, an access roadway, and a pre-engineeredfiberglass reinforced building. Within the pre-engineered building, new excess flow chemical metering pumps are to be installed along with the relocated plant effluent water chemical metering pump skid.

BID BOND: Bidders shall submit with their bid a bid bond issued by a surety company licensed to do business in the State of Kansas in the amount of five percent (5.0%) of the total amount of their bid. Said guarantee shall be made payable to the Board of County Commissioners of Johnson County, Kansas.
NONRESIDENT CONTRACTORS: In accordance with K.S.A. 79-1008 through 79-1015, upon award of contracts greater than $10,000, nonresident contractors or subcontractors that are not already registered with the Kansas Secretary of State are required by law to register with the Director of Taxation and file an acceptable bond as a precedent to commencing work on the contract.
TAX CLEARANCE: The successful Bidder to this IFB shall be required to submit Tax Clearance Certifications, as provided for in the Instructions to Bidders, prior to issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
No bid may be withdrawn within a period of sixty (60) days from the date of the bid opening.
The County reserves the right to award the contract to the lowest and best, responsive and responsible bidder for the work covered by the bid and to reject any or all bids and to waive irregularities and informalities in any bid submitted.
No bidder shall in any way, directly or indirectly, discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment or any other person because of age, race, color, disability, sex, national origin or religious creed, or other circumstance prohibited by federal state or local law, rule or regulation.
