Summary

November 2024          Non-Expedited
There are a lot of doors (interior and exterior) on the DSFM property.   Some doors are in occupied buildings while some doors are relied on to secure some of our un-occupied storage buildings.    Two such buildings are as follows: the FEIB storage building that contains one man door and two overhead doors then there is the HAZMAT/OFA storage building that contains one man door and one overhead door.   These structures, while not as important as the occupied admin/main, A-, and B-buildings; they are still used to store materials and equipment that are important for OFA and FEIB functions.  Keeping these buildings secure is also important as they both contain video surveillance equipment outside and, inside, connections/battery back-ups plus equipment directly connected to campus WIFI.

As with all the overhead doors on campus, these out building structures are included with getting a vendor in to perform preventative maintenance on the overhead doors.   While they are on site, they also perform visual inspections of the man doors and ensure they are secure and reliable.

During the autumn PMs (on 9/18/2024), the vendor noted a minor issue with one of the overhead doors in A-bldg and made a note about the man doors of both out buildings.  The man doors on both buildings are the original.  The jambs not in perfect alignment and, in some cases, have holes in them from where they had a padlock/hasp applied to lock the door since the door could not be locked conventionally.   Since then, the FEIB storage door has had a few alterations to it to which allows it to be locked conventionally, but the seals are gone, the threshold is nearly non-existent, and there are holes in the door slab and frames from the previously used hasp.  The person responsible for organizing the building has witnessed water coming from under the door creating a minor flooding situation.   These buildings do not need to be airtight and some water coming in is understood during wind and rainy events, but this should not be a common occurrence. Similarly in the OFA storage building, the frame has had some work done on it to allow it to shut properly but the frame itself is not in great condition and needs reinforcement.   Additionally, the lockset used on this door is a mortise doorknob-style which should be updated to a mortise lever-style.    Finally, a request is to paint the doors with a suitable, exterior-grade paint that is not only weather/UV resistant but can also withstand years of standard use.

The following is a list of recommended and requested repairs.  Where possible, hardware (especially lock hardware and cylinders) will be re-purposed.
