Improvements at Lone Oak, Erbes Road, and Ventu Pump Stations

The proposed improvements at the pump stations will address the following scope of work:

• Lone Oak Pump Station (CI 5673)
  • Fire hardening at this site will include rebuilding the existing roofing structures to enhance protection against wildfires.
  • A new emergency power backup generator will be installed at this location and will be housed in a noise-suppressing enclosure. Integration into the existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • Drainage improvements will be constructed at this location to address onsite drainage deficiencies to prevent erosion and water damage, as well as reduce ongoing maintenance upkeep.
  • Site security enhancements will be provided with the replacement of the existing access gates and fencing, as well as site lighting.
  • Vault cover improvements.

• Erbes Road Pump Station (CI 5738)
  • Fire Hardening will require rebuilding a portion of the existing pump station to implement a new roofing structure with fire-hardening measures to reduce wildfire risks.
  • A new emergency power backup generator will be installed to maintain operations during power outages. Integration into the existing SCADA system.
  • Site security enhancements will include updated site lighting, and new access gates and fencing.

• Ventu Pump Station (CI 5739)
  • Fire hardening enhancements will include replacing the existing roof with fire-resistant roofing material.
  • Electrical improvements to the site will include replacement of all existing Motor Control Centers (MCCs) as well as provide for overall system enhancements that meet current standards and will improve system reliability. Integration into the existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • Site security enhancements will be provided with the replacement of the existing access gates and fencing, as well as site lighting.

The City’s Public Works Department manages the City’s water storage and distribution facilities consisting of 11 Calleguas turnouts (connections to the Calleguas Municipal Water District Supply), four hydropneumatic pump stations, 16 pump stations, 16 reservoirs, and two booster stations. Many of these sites need certain improvements to better address wildfire resiliency, site drainage, accidental tank overflow containment, pump and electrical equipment enclosures, fencing to enhance site security, and the addition of emergency generators. These improvements are necessary to maintain these crucial infrastructure components and ensure proper protection of neighboring slopes from erosion and damage.

The installation of generators at Lone Oak and Erbes Road Pump Stations provides power to critical pump station infrastructures during power outages and ensures water service availability during wildfire events and other emergencies. The electrical improvement of Ventu Pump Station will improve system reliability and bring the pump station up to the current standards.
