TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE

PROJECT DETAILS: CA ERFO DEVA 2022-1(2) Salt Creek Interpretive Trail

This project will consist of replacement and reconstruction of the approximately 2,871-foot-long, ABA accessible, raised timber boardwalk trail (6-feet wide) that was completely destroyed during flash flooding on August 5, 2022. The project also includes removal of remaining portions of damaged and displaced boardwalk from sensitive environmental areas including wilderness, reconstructing the trailhead parking lot, and reconstructing a 400-foot section of roadway with special rock embankment. The boardwalk alignment will be placed in a modified alignment to follow the new post-flashflood stream course (August 2022 and Tropical Storm Hillary August 2023 events).

All of the work is occurring in cultural and natural resource sensitive areas and there are numerous environmental constraints including paleontological monitoring, limitations on large equipment in the boardwalk area, and matting that will affect the construction schedule and type of operations. Great attention to detail will be required in achieving customer satisfaction in areas of roadway and parking lot construction, traffic control, visitor relations and timely completion of work. Prior experience on projects of similar magnitude within National Parks, National Forests, or similar environments is required.

Principle work items include:

  • 2,100 square yards of thermally modified timber structural decking,

  • 58 thousand board feet measure (MFBM) of structural timber, treated,

  • 5,800 linear feet of timber, 6-inch curbing,

  • 700 linear feet of timber bridge railing,

  • 650 each helical piles (2-7/8”, 5-1/2” & 7” diameter),

  • 1,300 square yards of removal of timber boardwalk debris (by helicopter)

  • 2,000 cubic yards of embankment construction,

  • 400 cubic yards of special rock embankment,

  • 680 square yards of concrete sidewalk and pavement,

  • 400 linear feet of concrete curb, and

  • 1 each vault toilet (double occupancy unit)

The anticipated advertisement date for the project is September 2024 with construction anticipated from November 2024 to June 2025.

The estimated price range of the project work is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000.
