Solicitation Summary

The City of Gaithersburg, Maryland is inviting proposals from qualified firms to provide professional Civil Engineering Design Services for the design and preparation of final construction documents for two projects listed below. A firm can submit for both projects using the Project Selection Form included in Attachment A. Both projects will be reviewed and awarded as separate projects. If a firm selects both projects, two separate proposals must be submitted.

  1. Headwaters Muddy Branch (MB-4) Stormwater Design Improvements (drainage area of approximately 80 acres)
  2. Headwaters Muddy Branch (MB-5) Stormwater Design Improvements (drainage area of approximately 64 acres)

The City of Gaithersburg Headwaters Drainage Study, conducted from 2022-2024, involves the assessment of multiple watersheds to identify improvement opportunities to mitigate flooding and improve neighborhood level stormwater management (SWM) systems. This includes flooding issues within the Muddy Branch (MB) watershed in the areas of East Deer Park Drive, Oakton Road, Woodland Road, and Tulip Drive. An MB Creek Regional Concept plan was developed to mitigate these issues. This solicitation contains two (2) improvement opportunity areas, MB-4 and MB-5, each of which has specific proposed projects.
