Summary

The Department of Youth Services is seeking proposals to provide a web-based work readiness/skill development curriculum for incarcerated youth who have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent. As of July 2024, the average age at admission to DYS facilities is 17.8 and the average age at release is 18.7. Given this demographic, it is essential to provide educational tools that will help prepare these individuals for entry into the workforce upon leaving the custody and care of our facilities.

The selected provider must demonstrate competence in providing coursework to a specialized population. Currently, 44% of incarcerated youth in the state of Ohio need specialized education. Coursework must be available at a reading, language, and comprehension level at an average of 5th to 7th grade; however, it must also include courses at a first-year college level to effectively service our diverse youth population.
