The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD)/Influenza Division (ID) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Miltenyi Biotec Inc, UEI # ZLDPMHA3M333, 2303 Lindbergh St, Auburn, Ca 95602, to provide 1 GentleMACS Octo Dissocciator with heating units with an instrument service plan. Miltenyi Biotec Inc GentleMACS Octo Dissocciator with heating units is the only commercially available instrument capable of simultaneously processing eight biological samples in a fully closed, sterile system with integrated heating and validated programmable protocols that are already incorporated into the validated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) per the Quality Manual for Microbiological Laboratories (QMML). The systems proprietary mechanical dissociation architecture, protected by active patents, allows for reproducible, high-viability single-cell and nuclei preparations across multiple tissue types without operator-dependent variability. It is also the only system with OEM-developed, tissue-specific programs that can be run without additional programming or third-party modification, and it supports the required consumable formats (C Tubes and M Tubes) that maintain sterility and traceability. No other system combines these capabilities with proven compatibility for downstream Luminex and single-cell sequencing workflows under current quality and regulatory requirements. This contract action is for a commercial supply for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 12.102(a).
