The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
The 309th Software Engineering Group (SWEG) has recognized the imperative need for the comprehensive sanitation of classified information storage devices. To address this requirement, a proactive solution has been proposed to establish a Base + two (2) option years for continued service with a contracted media incineration service.
Key Features of the Proposed Solution:
1. Witness Validation:
The selected contractor will facilitate witness validation, ensuring that positive visibility of the containers designated for incineration is maintained at all times. This process will ensure the integrity and security of the media being disposed of.
2. Personnel Involvement:
Up to three (3) cleared government personnel will be engaged in the transportation of the media to the final disposal facility. These personnel will oversee and witness the incineration process, thereby affirming that all protocols are strictly adhered to.
3. Transportation Specifications:
The media earmarked for incineration will be securely loaded and transported in 55-gallon fiberboard drums, which will be reinforced with metal bands and secured with a security seal to prevent tampering or loss during transit.
4. Types of Media for Incineration:
The content slated for incineration encompasses various forms of classified information storage, including:
- Magnetic tapes
- Magnetic disks
- Diskettes
- Optical storage devices
- Hard copy storage devices
- Trace amounts of CDs, DVDs, microfiche, etc.
The establishment of a Base + 2 option years contract with a reliable media incineration service is a crucial step towards ensuring the secure and effective disposal of classified information storage devices. This process will safeguard sensitive information while adhering to necessary regulatory standards.
