Project Description: The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture (OAC) is the primary steward and agency responsible for the conservation, maintenance, and management of art and cultural assets acquired by the City through its various programs. The Public Art Collection contains more than 300 pieces of permanently sited artwork, acquired through commissioning, gifts, purchases, and long-term loans. The Percent for the Art Program is a City ordinance that sets aside one percent for the development of public art projects. Maintenance for the Public Art Collection cannot be funded with bond money. The general fund will be the anticipated funder for maintenance and collection management is subject to annual appropriations. The collection includes murals, paintings, prints, sculpture; furniture, historical materials, ethnographic artifacts, architectural elements such as stained glass, or cast stone emblems; works on paper, and photographs that reflect the diversity of culture within Dallas. Most of the artworks are exterior, integrated into the architecture, or free-standing.
This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) will enable OAC to create a pre-qualified list of up to Twenty-five (25) conservators (including teams and/or firms) and art collection management professionals who demonstrate the professional capacity to advise on the documentation and maintenance of artworks, artifacts, and architectural elements, as well as conserve, examine, and provide preventative care treatments and recommendations for artwork.
