The City of Thousand Oaks is located in eastern Ventura County and consists of 53 square miles. The City population is approximately 127,000. The City is a general law city operating under the Council/Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of five elected members through district-based elections, with one member serving as Mayor on an annual basis.
The City is responsible for maintaining approximately 380 miles of streets, one of our largest infrastructure assets. It is critical to perform regular maintenance through pavement repairs, sealing, resurfacing, and overlay programs. The 2026 Pavement Overlay, Curb Ramp, and Slurry Program continue the efforts to keep City streets in very good condition. The City plans to utilize Asphalt Rubberized Hot Mix (ARHM), RAP Micro-Surfacing and Slurry Seal (REAS). Based on the City’s American with Disability Act (ADA) Transition Plan curb ramps within the overlay and micro-surfacing streets will be reconstructed in compliance with the ADA requirements. Also, the City plans to re-stripe certain streets and address drainage issues within the selected streets.
