QUESTIONS & ANSWERS No. 1
ISSUED: April 21, 2026
SB-I000940
Replacement of Fire Panels
TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
The following questions were submitted by potential bidders. Our answers are listed
below in red:
1. Can Fire Alarm inspection reports be provided for each of the different building
layouts? (For buildings that are replicated, just one inspection report would do –
like for Q, B, C, D, P or I)
No, because we have our electronic techs. We cover our own repairs.
2. Can get the latest T&I Reports for each building to be accounted for with this bid?
We do a Sprinkler Testing report through Active Fire.
3. Also on the Request for Quotation Page there is 3 items listed for pricing will this
be as follows:
Item 1 1045 Mullins Station Road Location: this would include all the building
minus the two that Fire Panels wont be needed? Yes.
Item 2 1071 Mullins Station Road Location: N building only, this one is pretty self
explanatory. Yes.
Item 3 961 Sycamore View Location: will this include all 3 IRC building? In the
drawings provided it doesn’t seem like there are drawings for any IRC(typical
since these are of the same design). Yes.
4. In the Specifications it says the approved system shall be that of Cerberus PRO
Fire Safety or equivalent with prior written approval, this a Siemens system
supplied by partners but want to confirm is Siemens Desigo Fire Safety an
approved equal.
Yes, this system will be fine.
5. Will a Fire Protection Engineer be required to produce a Code Compliant Fire
Alarm design for this project?
Yes, it has to be up to codes.
6. Does Memphis Fire Department have Jurisdiction or will the state Fire Marshal
be required to approve before installation or both will have to approve prior?
Yes, Memphis fire has jurisdiction.
7. When it comes to escorts for this facility what does this look like one guard, one
maintenance etc. what will be the jails course of action be? Would it be possible
to have one Maintenance to get access into areas that will be needed and one
Corrections Officer present for safety of employees, and will we have the
escort(s) available at all times for the duration of the project?
Yes, both maintenance and an office will be available.
8. Will we be allowed to Demo the systems as we go, this would require each
building to undergo Fire Watch(supplied by SCDC) when demoing each system
building by building or will we need to install the new system and then Demo?
Yes, demo can be done one bldg in front of the installation.
9. We discussed this during the Walkthrough but just to confirm each building will
be standalone, meaning that no fire alarm panels will be tied together/networked
is this the intent?
Yes, typi are correct, they do not talk to each other.
Sincerely,
Signed Original on File
