Overview
Summary

The purpose of this contract is to engineer and design the replacement of the CR-611 NB Off-Ramp bridge over Lake Tarpon Outfall. The objective is to complete reconstruction of this bridge by January, 2030. This project must be coordinated with the Project Development & Environment Study being performed for the East Lake Road corridor from SR 586 (Curlew Road) to north of Trinity Boulevard.

Background

The East Lake Road (CR-611) NB Off-Ramp bridge, originally built in 1967, has sustained considerable wear, as indicated in the latest inspection report (July 2022). This bridge is located 300 feet south of Tampa Road. The bridge is currently rated as functionally obsolete and structurally deficient, with specific areas of concern, such as spalling on the deck and substructure, abrasion on piles, and exposed rebar, all of which compromise the bridge’s durability and safety. The structure has a sufficiency rating of 64.3 and a health index of 73.84, highlighting the need for replacement.

The new design should improve durability, targeting a minimum 75-year lifespan, ADA compliance, and compatibility with projected traffic.
