The NIH Department of Perioperative Medicine seeks to acquire five (5) Valleylab FT10 Electrosurgical Generators to:
The department currently has 7 FT10 units deployed, but additional units are required to meet increasing procedural demands and to ensure readiness in case of ERBE unit malfunctions.
The Valleylab FT10 generator includes proprietary TissueFect™ technology, which monitors tissue impedance 434,000 times per second to deliver optimized energy during surgery. This technology is exclusive to Valleylab generators and critical for:
As the sole manufacturer and provider of this device, Covidien Sales LLC is the only source capable of fulfilling the requirement.

This acquisition is being conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, specifically Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), which permits sole source awards when only one source is reasonably available. As such, competition requirements under FAR Part 6 do not apply.
