Project Title: Replace Windows Phase III Birmingham VA Medical Center

Location: Birmingham VA Medical Center, 700 19th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35233
Contract Type: Firm Fixed Price
Period of Performance: 491 calendar days from Notice to Proceed
Description:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) requires a contractor to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform Phase III of the window replacement project at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Work includes demolition and removal of existing windows and installation of new non-operable windows per construction documents. Installation will be performed from the exterior using swing stage scaffolding. Interior work includes patching, painting, and installation of new window treatments and select windowsills.
The contractor shall also provide asbestos and lead abatement for approximately 100 windows, including removal and disposal in compliance with all applicable codes and VA specifications. Work must adhere to VA Design Guides, Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Level III containment standards, NFPA Life Safety Code, and all applicable building codes.
Phasing:
The facility will remain operational 24/7 during construction. The contractor must develop and maintain a detailed phasing plan and schedule to minimize disruption. Initial stages include site preparation, measurement, and ordering of windows, followed by sequential removal and replacement per the approved phasing plan.
