The Office of Food Security has launched the “Mercer County Food Hub Pilot Grant” that is aimed to support the development of the Mercer County Food Hub. Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the establishment of the Mercer County Food Hub represents the County’s long-term commitment to fresh food access, social service access, and increase capacity of food distribution networks. The Food Hub will be used as centralized facility designed to streamline the distribution of fresh and nutritious foods to Mercer County food insecure residents while also providing access to case management services through partnered social service providers to connect residents with critical supportive and social services programs available within the County. This establishment will also serve as coordinated resource network for food security nonprofits throughout the County. The goal of the Food Hub is to increase efficiency, reduce duplication of efforts and ensure that food insecure residents receive consistent, high quality wrap around services.

This program aligns with ARPA’s mission to address systemic barriers to equitable food access. By leveraging these funds, Mercer County can ensure that food security solutions to enhance infrastructure, food distribution, and coordination of social services across Mercer.

Through this pilot grant, a single grant award of $250,000 is eligible for one 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization to develop a centralized food hub operational in Mercer County for the period of July 1, 2025, through December 31, 2026. The selected organization must have an existing facility capable of accommodating additional food storage, case management services, and serve as the regional coordination center for food security efforts in Mercer County, NJ.

Proposals must be received by April 15, 2025, 12:00pm (prevailing time).
