Requestfor Qualifications – RFQ 2024-085, Waco MPO Place Based Safety andDemonstration Projects. Sealed Qualifications will be accepted at the City of Waco’s Operations Center, 1415 N. 4 th Street, Waco, TX until 2:00P.M., Thursday, December 12, 2024. The City of Waco Metropolitan PlanningOrganization (MPO) is seeking consultants qualified to manage the planning,execution, and evaluation of demonstration projects focused on improvingvulnerable road user (VRU) safety through low-cost, high-impact interventionsacross McLennan County, TX. The selectedconsultant will oversee sub-consultants and ensure that all phases of theproject are carried out in a timely manner, with a focus on interventions thathave the potential to be scalable or made permanent. The six demonstration projects will takeplace in high-visibility, high-impact locations, including a downtown Wacocorridor, Baylor University, Valley Mills Drive, and key school zones, allchosen for their significant safety challenges and traffic volumes. These projects will implement FHWA ProvenSafety Countermeasures and meaningful placemaking strategies designed toenhance pedestrian and cyclist safety, improve quality of life, and prioritizeequitable access to transportation in historically underserved communities andDisadvantaged Census Tracts.
