Addenda: 0
Release Date: 3/18/2025
Due Date: 4/10/2025
Chesapeake Public Schools is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced auditing firms (hereafter known as the Offeror) to provide auditing services for our school internal accounts. These services must ensure compliance with educational policies, financial regulations, and applicable accounting standards. The auditing firm will conduct an annual audit of the financial records associated with the internal accounts of all schools within the district, enhancing transparency, accountability, and proper fiscal management.
The successful firm will audit all internal accounts to ensure compliance with Chesapeake School Board policies and regulations as governed by the State Board of Education’s School Activity Funds, Guidelines, Chesapeake Public Schools Internal Accounts Manual , and generally accepted accounting principles.
Chesapeake Public Schools, including the School Board (hereafter known as the District) intends to establish a contract with one firm (hereafter known as the Contractor) to provide comprehensive auditing services of internal financial accounts and records of forty-seven (47) schools, Chesapeake Career Center, and the Chesapeake Center for Student Success starting July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. The contracted fees for the FY 2023-2024 audit were $89,590. The district typically engages in a schedule with the audit firm in spring, with the finalized schedule distributed to schools in early June.
Based on enrollment, the District is the seventh largest school district in Virginia. With nearly 40,000 students and 6,000 employees in over 50 schools and centers, the District is committed to providing excellence in education for the children of Chesapeake. The District expects to open a new elementary school within the term of the contract; therefore, the District reserves the right to add or delete schools, rooms, and buildings due to construction or special needs.
The Chesapeake Public School System is an equal educational opportunity school system. The School Board of the City of Chesapeake also adheres to the principles of equal opportunity in employment and, therefore, prohibits discrimination in terms and conditions of employment on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, color, religion, age, or disability.
