Psychiatric Rehabilitation Curriculum & Resource Development Project

The New York State (NYS) Office of Mental Health (OMH) is committed to advancing and promoting the delivery of high quality, evidence-based psychiatric rehabilitation services throughout the mental health service system. Psychiatric Rehabilitation, also referred to as psychosocial rehabilitation, is a process used to restore an individual’s well-being and community participation through person-centered exploration, goal setting, skill building, and support. Psychiatric Rehabilitation services are often provided following an evidence-based or evidence-informed curriculum which may focus on developing specific knowledge or skills based on the assessed needs of the participant. The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) inviting qualified NYS-based training and technical assistance providers to submit proposals for the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Curriculum and Training Project.

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Curriculum and Training Project will organize and coordinate curriculum and resource development, training, and technical assistance for NYS OMH providers related to ongoing initiatives promoting psychiatric rehabilitation practices. The intent is to ensure adult psychiatric rehabilitation programs have access to evidence-based curricula and resources necessary to support service delivery.

Curriculum and resource development, training, and technical assistance will focus on providers of Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) programs, with a goal of supporting staff in the delivery of evidence-based/informed psychiatric rehabilitation services. Resources may also be made available to other OMH rehabilitation services providers as part of this initiative, including but not limited to Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) Services designated providers, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs), State-Operated Psychiatric Centers, Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitation (MHOTRS), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), and residential/housing providers.
