Description
The Office of Acquisitions and Grants is seeking sources to provide high resolution geochronology for volcanic ash (tephra) samples from outcrop stratigraphic sections and a research core through Cretaceous and Cenozoic marine strata on the North Slope of Alaska. Laboratory must separate zircon from eleven bulk tephra samples, conduct U-Pb geochronologic screening using Laser-Ablation Inductively-Coupled-Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), and based on the results of the screening analysis and in consultation with ABPS representatives, develop and execute a plan to conduct high-accuracy, high-precision U-Pb geochronology using Chemical-Abrasion Isotope-Dilution Thermal-Ionization Mass Spectrometry (CA-ID-TIMS).
