1. Project Overview
The City of Dunwoody is initiating a citywide project to replace existing ADA (Americans with
Disabilities Act) compliant handicap ramps that are damaged, deteriorated, or no longer meet
current accessibility standards. This project aims to ensure safe and accessible pedestrian routes
throughout the City, particularly at sidewalk intersections and key pedestrian corridors.
Construction activities will include but are not limited to: traffic control; removal and disposal of
damaged sidewalks, curb, and gutter; forming, placing, and finishing of concrete; protection of
completed work from vandalism or damage; and final site clean-up/restoration.
All unit prices shall be inclusive of all costs necessary to complete the work, including labor,
materials, equipment, tools, traffic control, disposal, hauling, and mobilization. Where no pay
item is given, work to be paid for under other items.
Work will be performed at various locations throughout the City of Dunwoody, as directed by the
City.
Quotes should be typed or submitted in ink and returned in a sealed container marked on the
outside with the IWQ number and Company Name. Quotes will be received until 2:00 P.M. local
time on Monday August 03, 2026, at the City of Dunwoody, 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road
Dunwoody, GA 30338. Quotes may also be sent via email to purchasing@dunwoodyga.gov
Any quote received after this date and time will not be accepted.
Questions regarding this solicitation should be directed to John Gates, Purchasing Manager, at
purchasing@dunwoodyga.gov no later than Tuesday July 28, 2026. Quotes are legal and
binding upon the bidder when submitted. All Quotes should be submitted in duplicate.
2. Project Objectives
* Replace non-compliant or damaged ADA ramps at the noted locations.
* Install surface mount ADA warning pads.
* Ensure all new ramps meet current federal ADA standards and local accessibility codes.
* Improve pedestrian safety and accessibility in public right-of-way areas.
* Enhance durability and longevity of installed ramps.
3. Scope of Work
The contractor shall furnish all materials, equipment, and labor to complete the required
construction as described in its entirety to the specifications as directed and the terms of this
contract including all incidentals as directed by the City of Dunwoody Director of Public Works
or his representative. Georgia Department of Transportation Standard Specifications (2021

edition). The locations for the ADA Handicap Ramps Replacements are identified below in two
categories:
* Category #1 - ADA Ramp Replacement (Full): All ADA Handicap Ramp
Replacements with Detectable Warning Surfaces (truncated domes) will be
installed per GDOT Detail number A3 - Special Detail Concrete Sidewalk Detail
Cut (Wheelchair) Ramps.
* Category #2 - Detectable Warning Strip Replacement (Only): Surface-
mounted Detectable Warning Surfaces (yellow truncated domes) are to be
installed according to the manufacturer's recommendation.

3.1 Site Assessment and Preparation
* Familiarize yourself with each designated ramp location (list attached).
* Verify field conditions and notify the City of discrepancies.
* Mark work areas and ensure utility clearance before excavation.
* Implement traffic and pedestrian control plans per MUTCD standards, latest edition.
3.2 Demolition and Removal
* Remove existing ramps, curbs, and adjacent sidewalk as needed.
* Properly dispose of removed materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
3.3 Construction of New ADA Ramps
* Construct new ramps in compliance with:
o Current ADA Standards for Accessible Design
o PROWAG (Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines)
o Local city/county codes and standards
* Typical ramp features to include:
o Detectable warning surface tiles (truncated domes)
o Proper slope (1:12 max) and cross-slope (2% max)
o Minimum 4-foot landing at top of ramp
o Transition to adjacent sidewalk and street

o Minor adjustment of valve boxes, meter boxes, utility covers, and similar
appurtenances necessary to complete the work shall be considered incidental to
the contract unless otherwise directed.
3.4 Surface Restoration
* Restore adjacent sidewalk, curb, and gutter disturbed by construction.
* Perform landscape restoration where necessary (e.g., topsoil, sod, seed, straw), ensuring
materials are replaced in kind.
3.5 Clean-up and Final Inspection
* Remove construction debris and restore site to original or better condition.
* Conduct final walkthrough with City inspector for each location.
* Correct any deficiencies prior to moving to the next work zone.
4. Deliverables
* Weekly progress reports and work logs / 2 week look ahead schedule.
* Pre- and post-construction photos for each site (location, date & time stamped).
* Traffic control plan for each zone.
* Final acceptance report for each zone/section.
5. Quality Control and Safety
* All work must follow OSHA safety standards.
* The contractor must have a site foreman/superintendent who speaks fluent English and
manages on-site crews.
* Daily inspections and compaction testing shall be performed by the City's materials
testing team.
6. Payment and Compensation
* Payment shall be made per ramp location or unit cost basis as listed in the bid schedule.
* Final payment upon successful completion and acceptance of all ramp replacements.
* 10% retainage will be held on progress payments up to 50% completion of work .
o Retainage will be paid upon final acceptance.

7. General Notes:
* Contractor must be GDOT Registered or pre-qualified in GDOT Work Class 441.
Contractors who have successfully performed work for the City of Dunwoody will be
considered outside of the GDOT Registered or Pre-qualified status.
* Work is anticipated to begin during the Summer of 2026. The contractor and the City will
conduct one (1) pre-construction meeting after award of the contract. The contractor and
the City will discuss the terms of the contract as well as the schedule for the Work.
Following the Pre-Con, the schedule terms will be documented in the Minutes and will be
the Work Plan by which the contractor must complete the Work. Completion Date:
November 30, 2026.
* The contractor is responsible for calling for utility locations prior to the start of work. It
shall be the contractor's responsibility to coordinate his work with any utility owner which
may be in conflict with his work. No claims will be considered for extra compensation.
* Any item which must be removed during the construction work and is not specifically
called for shall be removed by the contractor. The cost shall be included in another unit
price Quote. No claims will be considered for extra compensation.
* The general descriptions of each item of work are as described in the Georgia Department
of Transportation's standards and specifications (2021 Edition, and the applicable Special
Provisions and Supplemental Specifications modifying the 2021 standard specifications),
complete and accepted. Any conflicts which might occur during the course of the
construction work or any conflicts which might be related to the compensation of any work
shall be decided based on the Georgia DOT's standards and specifications. No claims will
be considered for extra compensation.
* The contractor shall notify the City a minimum of 24 hours prior to concrete placement.
No concrete shall be placed until forms, grades, slopes, detectable warning surface
location, and reinforcing (if applicable) have been inspected and approved by the City.
* Upon the completion of the work, any excess items which might be left over from the
construction-related work, shall be removed and disposed of properly by the contractor
within 24 hours. Under no circumstances will debris be allowed to remain in the roadway
while under traffic. The cost for such removal and disposal of such items will be included
in other unit price Quote. No claims will be considered for extra compensation.

* NOTE: City of Dunwoody has an on-call materials testing firm that will monitor/perform
soil compaction, concrete sampling/ testing and similar tests during construction. This is at
City expense; contractor would only be responsible for paying for re-tests if we were to
have any failed tests.
* Under this scope, "Department", "Engineer", and "Resident Engineer" shall mean the
"City of Dunwoody, Georgia, Public Works Director or City of Dunwoody, Georgia or
Public Works Designee".
* Work Hours- Working hours are limited to Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM
unless prior approval is granted by the Department of Public Works. Saturday work may
be allowed with prior approval. A 48-hour advance notice is required for any consideration
of Saturday work. No work to be performed during City observed holidays.
* Traffic Control- Lane closures and intermittent traffic disruptions for this project will only
be permissible between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Lane
closures on Saturday may be permitted with prior approval. Lane closures and intermittent
traffic disruptions for Saturday work will only be permissible between the hours of 8 a.m.
and 6 p.m., The Contractor may temporarily close the road within the work area for
periods not greater than 30 minutes
* All traffic control shall be provided by the contractor in accordance with GDOT's "shelf"
Special Provision 150. Assistance from police officers will not be provided by the City.
Temporary traffic control signs are required for this project.
* Contractor shall have all vehicles marked with their company name.
* The Contractor shall perform project housekeeping/clean-up on a daily basis. A 24 - hour
contact must be provided to the City of Dunwoody for all issues as needed in regards to
the project for any safety, signage, or other emergency as needed. In the event the
Contractor fails to clean up within 24 hours of being notified, the City reserves the right to
have the work performed by Others, and the Contractor will be back charged for the cost
of the work.
* The Contractor's performance will be measured based on the following:
o Compliance with the Scope of Work and GDOT Specifications
o Meeting agreed upon schedule dates
o Submission of all deliverables as specified
* The contractor shall obtain permission from any private property owner on whose property
construction equipment may be parked. Failure to obtain permission from property owners
may result in citations.
* Proof of Commercial general liability insurance with coverage of not less than ONE
MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) combined single limit per occurance, and with

contractual liability coverage for Contractor's covenants to and indemnification of the City
under the Contract.
* The contractor shall be responsible for any damage to public or private property caused by
the Work such as street signs, mailboxes, fences, curb damage, driveway damage,
hardscaping damage, irrigation, etc.
o In the event the contractor (or subcontractors working for them) damage private or
public property (including but not limited to sidewalks, curb and gutter, pavement,
driveway aprons, etc.) in the course of performing the Work, the contractor shall
be responsible for making restitution.
o Contractor shall be responsible for communication with property owner(s) directly
with regard to all property damage claims. Contractor shall copy the City of
Dunwoody on the status of each claim until it is resolved.
Other Notes:
* All square yard (SY) and linear foot (LF) quantities are estimates and will be
measured/based on confirmed quantity.
* The City reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities as needed.
* The contractor must fill in all unit prices and calculate extended totals.
* Include applicable taxes, overhead, and profit in your unit prices.

The Unit Price Quote Items provided for in the Quote Schedule are intended to be the only pay items
under which the Contractor will be compensated for work described above. The Contractor shall examine
the requirements of the work and the pay items in the Pricing Schedule and include in the unit prices
submitted all labor, equipment, materials, appurtenances, overhead, profit, vehicles, and all other things
incidental for the completion of the work as specified.
The City of Dunwoody requires pricing to remain firm for the duration of the contract. Failure to hold firm
pricing for the term of the contract will be sufficient cause for the City to declare Quote non-responsive.

Termination for Cause: The City may terminate this agreement for cause upon ten days prior written notice
to the Contractor of the Contractor's default in the performance of any term of this agreement. Such
termination shall be without prejudice to any of the City's rights or remedies by law.
Termination for Convenience: The City may terminate this agreement for its convenience at any time upon
a 30-day written notice to the Contractor. In the event of the City's termination of this agreement for

convenience, the Contractor will be paid for those services actually performed. Partially completed
performance of the agreement will be compensated based upon a signed statement of completion to be
submitted by the Contractor, which shall itemize each element of performance.
Termination for fund appropriation: The City may unilaterally terminate this Agreement due to a lack of
funding at any time by written notice to the Contractor. In the event of the City's termination of this
Agreement for fund appropriation, the Contractor will be paid for those services actually performed.
Partially completed performance of the Agreement will be compensated based upon a signed statement of
completion to be submitted by the Service Provider which shall itemize each element of performance.
