REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SERVICES
for
University of California, Irvine
Under the guidelines of Calif. Public Contract Code 10510.4 - 10510.9, the University of California, Irvine (hereinafter referred to as ¿UCI¿ or the ¿University¿) is seeking the best qualified firm (hereinafter referred to as ¿Consultant¿ or ¿Consultants") to provide Architectural Design Services.
INTRODUCTION
The University of California, Irvine (hereinafter referred to as ¿UCI¿ or the ¿University¿) seeks at least two (2) or as many as five (5) qualified consultants for architectural design services (hereinafter referred to as ¿Consultant¿ or ¿Consultants"). Consultants will provide services for a variety of projects, with the expectation that the Consultants can provide a quick turnaround on deliverables.
Description of Required Architectural Design Services
The University of California, Irvine seeks the qualifications of architectural design professionals interested in providing services including design, programming, and cost estimating in support of various projects that may include, but are not limited to: standardized research and laboratory renovations; classroom and lecture hall renovations; and other general renovations. The total estimated construction value for the various projects ranges between $100,000 and $5,000,000. UCI¿s objective is to retain design professionals that can work quickly on short lead times while still producing responsive, consistent, coordinated and thoughtful deliverables.
Three-year blanket agreements will be established with the selected architectural consultant(s). Selected consultant(s) are not promised any minimum commitment of work by UCI and UCI may, at its sole discretion, select as few as two (2) or as many as five (5) qualified consultants.
Consultant agreements do not guarantee project award nor do they exclude other firms from providing these services to UCI.
Required Services
The scope of services may include, but is not limited to, the following:
¿ Preparation of Pre-Schematic Design documents, feasibility studies and Rough Order of Magnitude (R.O.M.) budgets for the University¿s use to procure funding for projects.
¿ Programming and/or cost estimating, including the development of a DPP (Detailed Project Program).
¿ Preparation of Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Drawings and Technical Specifications that comply with: (1) applicable regulations; (2) UCI Campus Fire Marshal requirements; (3) UCI Facilities Management Engineering requirements; (4) UCI Campus Standards and Design Criteria and BIM Standards; and (5) any other requirements required by law and/or by the University.
¿ Coordination and incorporation of other design disciplines as necessary to prepare complete Construction Documents.
¿ Bidding phase services, including attendance at Pre-Bid Conferences, providing responses to bidder inquiries, and reconciling changes to drawings, and specifications issued in Addenda.
¿ Construction Administration, including attendance at weekly construction Owner, Architect, Contractor (OAC) coordination meetings and review of Requests for Information and submittals.
¿ Design services during construction.
¿ Preparation of as-built drawings in Revit.
