The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) invites firms pre-qualified on the 2021 Transportation Engineering and Planning Services Bench (Bench) in Service Categories A. Freeway Operations, Data Analytics and Performance Assessments and/or B. Connected and Automated Vehicles, Traffic Sensors, and Other Advanced Technologies to apply for the following project.
MTC is seeking to hire a Consultant team to conduct an initial feasibility study to examine the current state of the vehicle detection system (VDS) implemented in the Bay Areas on an example corridor (US-101 in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties) and the challenges to maintain existing detectors. The study should assess detection needs for Caltrans and partner agencies as well as opportunities for the use of other detector technologies. Example technologies for consideration could include Radar, LiDAR, and video. The project will be managed by MTC in close partnership with Caltrans D4.
