Faith Community Housing Assistance Consultant

The Faith Community Housing Assistance initiative supports houses of worship in exploring affordable housing development on land they own or control by providing targeted workshops and individualized technical assistance aligned with the City of St. Petersburg’s Yes In God’s Back Yard (YIGBY) legislation. The project is designed to build congregational readiness by clarifying development feasibility, financing options, partnerships, and regulatory pathways, while producing replicable curricula, tools, and implementation guidance for future City use. The accompanying proposal requirements emphasize demonstrated experience in affordable housing training and technical assistance, particularly with faith-based or nonprofit organizations, along with strong project management, qualified personnel, data-informed engagement practices, and the capacity to deliver measurable outcomes within a one-year contract term.

Houses of worship often hold land and serve as trusted anchors. The City wants to support congregations exploring affordable housing development through a practical learning and Technical Assistance (TA) model in alignment with the Yes In Gods Back Yard (YIGBY) legislation.
