Title: Lisa Ln. (141st - Bonnie Brae) Waterline Replacement Project, CIP 4124
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 5/14/2025
Due Date: 6/5/2025
This project will replace approximately 1,700 feet of 6-inch cast iron water main, originally installed in 1965, with seismically resilient 6-inch ductile iron pipe. The existing cast iron main has experienced several breaks in recent years, exacerbated by corrosive native soils, leading to a significantly shortened service life of both the pipe and fittings.
Recognized as a top replacement priority by Water Operations staff, this project will also include:
Replacement of all water service lines between the main and meter
Installation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters
Replacement of all fire hydrants within the project limits
The existing 6-inch cast iron water main, installed in 1965, has deteriorated significantly due to corrosive native soils and has experienced frequent breaks in recent years. These failures have led to costly emergency repairs, water service disruptions, and increased maintenance efforts, impacting both operational efficiency and customer reliability.
Recognizing these challenges, Water Operations staff have designated this main as a top priority for replacement. Upgrading to a seismically resilient 6-inch ductile iron pipe will enhance system durability, reduce the risk of future failures, and improve long-term performance in seismic events or shifting ground conditions.
Beyond replacing the mainline infrastructure, this project will also modernize the system by:
Upgrading all water service lines between the main and meter
Installing Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters for improved data accuracy and efficiency
Replacing all fire hydrants within the project limits to strengthen emergency response capabilities
By addressing these issues comprehensively, this project will reduce maintenance costs, improve service reliability, and enhance resilience against seismic activity, ensuring a more sustainable and efficient water system for the community.
