Description:

The Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District on behalf of the Lake George Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Coalition (Coalition), seeks a professional services contract for a project manager to facilitate regular meetings and assist the Coalition in the development and implementation of strategies to advance protection of the watershed’s hemlocks. Project management services include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Convene monthly Coalition meetings (set dates, develop and distribute agendas, facilitate meetings, track action items, and follow up on action items between meetings as needed).
  • Plan and facilitate periodic (at least quarterly) Coalition strategy and planning sessions.
  • Work with Coalition project partners to help advance HWA planning and implementation efforts within the watershed.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of an annual progress report.
  • Assist with the following activities, as needed and as determined during strategy sessions:
    • Conduct outreach to help build community awareness of the importance of hemlocks and support for hemlock conservation.
    • Create informational resources for private landowners interested in managing their hemlocks to control HWA, including how to hire a private pesticide applicator.
  • Write grants and/or help seek additional funding for planning and management efforts as desired by the Coalition.

Estimation of work is between 5 – 20 hours per month. Contract term is for the 2025 calendar year. At no time shall the successful applicant consider or be considered an employee of the District, the Coalition or any of its members.

The project manager will report to the SWCD District Manager or their appointee and will engage with Coalition members to develop and refine annual work plans and will coordinate regularly with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s forest health staff and the NYS Hemlock Initiative’s conservation team.

Required qualifications include:

  • Minimum five years of professional level experience in the management of invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid and other invasive species.
  • Experience in project management, including coordinating multiple organizations. and agencies, planning projects and executing invasive species management plans.

To be considered, proposals must include:

  • Detailed resume of provider highlighting the relevant qualifications for this position and experience in HWA management.
  • Hourly rate to be charged by provider.
  • Hourly rate for travel time, and rate per mile for vehicle
