Bid Synopsis:

A Universal Material Testing System (UMTS) is a basic laboratory equipment for any engineering program. This equipment is an ABET accreditation requirement for the Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology programs. UMTS is used to characterize materials at room temperature and also at elevated temperatures. Using this equipment critical mechanical properties of materials such as yield strength, elastic modulus, shear modulus, tensile strength, ductility, resilience, toughness, etc. can be determined. This equipment also provides the stress-strain curves of materials. Tension, compression, creep, and fatigue tests of metals, plastics, ceramics and composites can be done using this equipment. This equipment is necessary for teaching purposes, but can also complement research and community/industry needs.   This equipment will be used in the UW-Green Bay School of Engineering.  The vendor that provides a solution that meets the specifications at the lowest total overall cost will be awarded.  After the Award the contractor will be asked to provide a formal quote based on the bid and a purchase order will be issued for the one-time purchase.
