Project Description: Montgomery County residents have long expressed interest in establishing a dedicated recycling drop-off center to improve accessibility and expand recycling opportunities. Such a facility would streamline the recycling process, enhance convenience, and reduce waste. The center would accept standard curbside materials—including cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, and metal packaging—and serve as a supplemental option for instances of high-volume recycling, such as after a move or a gathering. In addition, the facility would accommodate electronic waste (e.g., televisions and computers), scrap metal, textiles, and potentially organic yard and food waste. Household hazardous waste (HHW), such as paint, oil, gasoline, lawn chemicals, and batteries—currently collected only during limited one-day events from April through November—would be accepted year-round. By consolidating these services, the Recycling Drop-Off Center would provide residents with a convenient, single location to responsibly recycle a wide range of materials.
