Agriculture and Irrigation
PROJECT OVERVIEW
a) Project Background - The Sheerness Deadfish Water Supply System, which is owned and operated by the Government of Alberta, provides critical regional water supply for irrigation, livestock, and domestic water supply to over 12,000 acres of agricultural land in the Special Areas. The system consists of a pumphouse, two canal conveyance systems, four dams and reservoirs, a pipeline, and various canal structures including numerous private turnouts. General maintenance services are required to ensure the system continues to meet its mandate.
b) Project Objectives - A wide range of routine maintenance services are required to meet critical objectives which are not available through other means. These includes earthwork, aggregate supply, concrete supply & forming; fencing & sign installation; electrical and mechanical equipment service & repair; vacuum truck services, welding, painting, yard maintenance, and building facility maintenance.
c) Project Structure/Business Model - This Contract will be administered by Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI), Water Infrastructure Operations Branch (WIOB) Team Lead located in Vulcan, Alberta. AGI-WIO Management and technical support services are located in Calgary, AB.
d) Key Stakeholders – Key stakeholders of this water infrastructure include private irrigators, the Special Areas Board (local municipality), and the general public.
