Archaeologist for Madison County Courthouse Project
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Archaeologist to support the Courthouse Project as part of our Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local archaeological and cultural resource regulations throughout the courthouse's planning and construction phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct archaeological surveys and assessments of the project site
Prepare and submit all necessary archaeological documentation and reports
Advise on regulatory compliance and mitigation measures
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Monitor construction activities to ensure preservation of significant archaeological resources
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with public infrastructure or government projects
Demonstrated experience with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and state/local cultural resource laws
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Bids will be accepted at the Madison County Commissioners’ Office, PO Box 278, 111 E. Wallace, Virginia City, Montana 59755, until 5:00 p.m. Bids will be opened and read publicly on Monday, June 15, 2026, during the Madison County Commission Discussion Meeting.
Madison County reserves the right, in accordance with Montana Code Annotated §18-4-307, to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and accept the bid deemed in the county's best interest.
