Description: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is soliciting bids for the purchase and delivery of four new Type 6 Wildland Engines for our Division of Forest Protection (DFP). DFP’s current fleet of engines are all over 20 years old. They do not comply with multiple sections of NFPA 1906 referring to safety, and multiple unrepairable mechanical issues exist with both vehicle and ancillary equipment. Therefore, these new engines are necessary for DFP to effectively continue their mission in wildland fire suppression.
