Description

NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE IN WRITING AND EMAILED TO THE CONTRACTING SPECIALIST. CONTACT INFORMATION BELOW.

The FAA has an immediate need to purchase roughly 1,045 (each) disposable UL certified air filters.

The purpose of this announcement is to solicit statements of interest, capabilities, and rough orders of magnitude (cost estimates) from businesses interested in and capable of providing custom air filters.

FAA’S NEED:

Custom Filter Measurements: Width 5 ¾ inches x Length 17 ¾ inches x Depth ½ inch (a 1” depth will not fit)

Approximate Quantity of Current Need: 1,045 Each

MERV Rating: Unknown (Picture with current filter held up to light attached to this announcement)

Equal items may be considered that meet the same salient characteristics (form, fit, and function) and are commercially available. If other items are recommended, please include the manufacturer’s specification sheet with your response.

PROCUREMENT STRATEGY:

At this time the FAA is researching solutions for the current filter being used (see pictures attached). As such, the procurement strategy has not yet been determined, and this announcement is for FAA market research purposes only. The FAA may decide any future procurement to be full and open competition, set aside for small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses or eligible socially and economically disadvantaged businesses that are certified by the SBA for participation in the SBA's 8(a) Program if a competitive environment appears to exist among these groups.

Responses to this announcement will be used for FAA information and planning purposes only. This is not a Screening Information Request (SIR) or request for proposal of any kind. The FAA is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. The FAA will not pay for any information received or costs incurred in preparing the response to this RFI. Therefore, any cost associated with the market survey submission is solely at the interested vendor’s expense.

FAA’S REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FROM INDUSTRY:

  1. How much should the FAA budget to pay per unit (each)?

    1. Can quantity discounts be realized if ordered in bulk?

    2. Are there any minimum ordering limitations for future production runs?

    3. Would a small quantity be available for credit card purchase by the FAA testing purposes?

    4. What would be a reasonable lead time for production of 1,045 units?

  1. Is there a more cost-effective solution for disposable filters other than cardboard bordering, fiberglass filter material, and wire mesh that does not sacrifice filtering qualities or rigidity of the filter?

    1. Would a small quantity be available for credit card purchase for testing purposes?

    2. Are there any minimum ordering limitations for future production runs?

    3. What would be a reasonable lead time for production of 1,045 units of the different product?

  1. Could a reusable filter be made in these same dimensions and filtering qualities?

    1. Would a small quantity be available for credit card purchase for testing purposes?

    2. What materials would this be made out of?

    3. How many reuses could be expected?

    4. How would such a filter be cleaned for reuse?

    5. How many units would need to be ordered to interest potential offerors to bid on a one-time production run?

    6. Are there any minimum ordering limitations for future production runs?

(Current QTY of need is unknown at this time if the FAA proceeds with this solution)
