Summary

The County of Greenville is seeking proposals for UNIT 4 CELL 5 LINER CONSTRUCTION AT TWIN CHIMNEYS LANDFILL. A 8.6 acre base liner construction (1x10-5 cm/sec clay, GCL, 60-mil HDPE, geocomposite, protective cover, leachate collection pipes). Contractor will be responsible for construction quality control (CQC) and surveying. Greenville County will provide Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) in a separate RFP.

The County desires the project to be achieve Substantial Completion within 180 calendar days from Notice to Proceed and Final Completion within 210 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The Project is subject to liquidated damages of $1,000/day for Substantial Completion and $500/day for Final Completion.



Background

A separate contractor is currently performing the earthwork to excavate the overburden to subgrade. The County will purchase the geosynthetic materials (GCL, 60-mil HDPE, and geocomposite) separately, and the Contractor awarded this project shall install those materials. The Contractor shall furnish all remaining materials required for the project, including the separator geotextile, pipe, and rain cover. Clay material will be obtained from an on-site source. Protective cover soil and stone for the pipe bedding and backfill will be obtained from an off-site source.
